Business Law Profile

At the Law Office of Cynthia Hitt Kent, LLC, we are skilled in the business entity formation, entity formalities such as partnership and stockholder issues, annual and special meetings, and the purchase and sale of ownership interests. In addition, we are skilled on a practical level in vendor-vendee contracts, contract negotiations, contract termination and contract defaults (including collections).

We strive to understand the client’s business and the myriad of different issues that may be associated with that business. We have a vast amount of experience in employment law, ranging from the drafting of employee handbooks and policies, to advice on the Americans with Disabilities Act and wage and hour laws to representation in employment litigation cases.

We also understand the interplay and the politics between the government jurisdiction in which the business may be located and the effect of federal, state and local regulations on the business. Close contact is maintained with Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Calvert County, Carroll County and Howard County planning, zoning, subdivision and economic development agencies and we are familiar with licensing and zoning regulations and policies. We review those practices and policies regularly to see what regulations are currently in place and how they effect the businesses we represent.

Cynthia Hitt Kent is, and has been throughout her career, legal counsel to several small business with a high concentration in the real estate business – landlords, developers, engineers, builders and contractors. She also represents small manufacturing concerns and service businesses.
