Legal Assistant

Part Time

Small law office with real estate and business practices seeks a clerical/litigation legal assistant, part-time (approximately 20 hours per week, 3-4 days per week), to perform tasks such as:

  • Collection case work for community associations, homeowner associations and condominiums; knowledge of lien processing, small and large claims litigation, foreclosures and bankruptcies desired; knowledge of fair debt collection laws desired.
  • Draft correspondence, prepare pleadings and documents, file pleadings electronically with the Court, copy, mail, scan and file records, monitor Court calendar and prepare cases for Court.
  • De-construct and scan physical files; check the scans for accuracy of capture; file in the appropriate computer file; file in physical files as may be necessary.
  • Handle a significant amount of producing, copying, emailing and/or mailing reports.
  • Assist other staff members as may be requested.

This opportunity is an onsite position that requires the employee to be at the office site using the onsite office equipment. Employee must have their own transportation to and from the office site. The office is located in Owings Mills, just off of Reisterstown Road. Parking is free.

The qualified applicant should be detail oriented and possess excellent computer skills. The computer equipment and software in use is Windows /Word and Word Perfect, Excel, Notepad, QuickBooks and Outlook. The office equipment includes a large multi function machine and postal meter. Experience in a law firm, accounting firm or other professional office is not required, but would be helpful.

The pay rate is $12.50 per hour. The hours are flexible (between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM); however, once a schedule is established, the employee will be expected to adhere to the schedule (i.e., be punctual and be dependable during the scheduled hours). The position is available immediately.
